Naomi Miguel
Biography
Naomi Miguel, Ba’ag Nei’dam O’ks (Eagle Singing Woman), is a citizen of the Tohono O'odham Nation. She is the owner and Chief Executive Officer of O’odham Consulting, L.L.C. Most of her life has been spent on her nation’s lands. Her great-grandfather and mother were Chair of our District (Sif Oidak). Her grandfather was Chairman of our tribe (Tohono O’odham Nation).
“I love walking in the desert when the sun cools down. I love music and occasionally play my saxophone with my family. I have a huge extended family, and am so grateful for their support in my campaign.”
Her background includes working in the non-profit sector, and negotiating in Congress and within the executive branch. She’s worked on a Congressional committee tasked with passing legislation, conducting oversight, and investigative hearings. Her campaign experience includes working as a field organizer for Arizona’s Coordinated and Congressional District campaigns.
She has the experience Arizonans need to sit in the legislature.
Experience and Appointments
Presidential Appointee
Ms. Miguel was a Presidential appointee for the former Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence, and Economic Opportunity for Native Americans and Strengthening Tribal Colleges and Universities.
U.S. House of Representatives
Prior to her Presidential appointment, Ms. Miguel worked in the U.S. House of Representatives There her roles included:

Staff Assistant and later a Legislative Assistant to Representative Raúl M. Grijalva.

Staff Director for the Subcommittee for Indigenous Peoples of the United States on the House Committee on Natural Resources, under the direction of Chairman Raúl M.Grijalva.

Co-founder of the Congressional Native American Staff Association and where she hosted roundtable discussions about the importance of diversity and inclusion of Native American staffers in Congress.

Non-Profit Work
Ms. Miguel previously worked in the non-profit sector as an Assistant Program Specialist at the Tribal Law and Policy Institute. She served on local non-profit boards as a Board Member and Board Secretary, and currently serves as a Board Member for the Tribal Law and Policy Institute, a national tribal non-profit organization.
Education
She received her master’s degree in public administration and policy from American University, and an undergraduate degree in political science with minors in pre-law and art from Mount St. Mary’s University, an all-women’s college in Los Angeles, CA.

Ms Miguel’s awards include:

Inaugural honorary Cobell Fellowship from the Cobell Scholarship Program in 2024.

Outstanding alumnus “rising star” award from Mount St. Mary’s University’s Alumni Association.

Recipient of the 2021 Native Americans 40 under 40 awards.
Ms. Miguel was also featured in American University’s magazine and USA Today’s Native American Heritage Month magazine for her work in education.
